Dressing for a Midnight in Paris

As an extension of the Taste Architecture- Midnight in Paris feature, I wanted to share with you what I wore that evening.  The dress code for the event was “Parisian Chic.”  This gorgeous dress is one of the few pieces from my pre-pregnancy wardrobe that still fits- thanks to the adjustable waist with the rope detailing.  I rarely like animal print on clothing.  While other people carry that pattern effortlessly, on me I feel like it looks tacky.  I only have 2 animal print pieces in my closet- one is a Jimmy Choo clutch (shown here and here), and this dress- which almost doesn’t count because the pattern remains subtle, only hinting at the idea of an animal print, which I love.  The more pieces I have by Yigal Azrouël, the more I appreciate the unexpected, playful touches in his designs.  With this dress it’s the hint of Kelly green trimming on the edges.  I matched the color and the pattern with my neon-edged python heels (shown here).

Also, I wanted to share 2 cool tidbits that I didn’t include in the Taste Architecture- Midnight in Paris feature:

  1. Woody Allen actually dined with us in the same restaurant that evening, by pure coincidence!
  2. While the NoMad Hotel Restaurant has become a dining favorite among celebrities like Katie Holmes and Marion Cotillard, this past Monday, July 30, 2012, President Barack Obama attended a fund-raising event at the NoMad Hotel and later dined at The Cupola.  :)
